Problem Statement
Current modes of transportation within institutional settings such as university campuses are often inefficient and environmentally unsustainable. Conventional vehicles, even electric ones powered from the grid, may not address the specific mobility needs of such localized environments. Furthermore, integrating renewable energy with autonomous systems in transportation remains a technological and financial challenge. There is a need for a prototype vehicle that can demonstrate the integration of solar power with intelligent autonomous systems. Such a vehicle must be able to perform essential functions such as obstacle detection, path navigation, and real-time monitoring, all while operating independently from non-renewable energy sources. The Smart Solar Vehicle project aims to fill this gap by developing a low-cost, solar-powered autonomous vehicle prototype. The project will demonstrate how embedded systems, machine vision, and renewable energy can be combined to create a practical solution for campus transportation.
